All proceeds from the Palm Sunday Invitational Praisefest will benefit the Ruth Roberts Scholarship Fund and Tot's Haven Christian Academy.
The Ruth Roberts Excellence Award for Scholarship and Leadership was established to address the issues young African-American scholars face regarding equitable education opportunities, justice, equal opportunity and service to family, church and community. In her lifetime, Ruth Roberts' touched the lives of countless people and her dedication to issues and concerns that matter most to the African-American community serve as a reminder that we can achieve greatness through education.
Tot's Haven Christian Academy's is a 501(c)3 organization whose purpose is to educate the 'whole' of our children - spirit, soul and body. The Academy also strives to provide the highest quality of Christian care without compromising God's Word, thus educating the children in our families through a loving environment for learning. Tot's Haven's vision is to bridge the gap to success through instruction, illumination and influence.
The Ruth Roberts Scholarship Fund and Tot's Haven Christian Academy are under the guidance and administration of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Since 1919, Zion Missionary Baptist Church has served as a beacon of light in the heart of the Lake Como Community at 4100 Horne Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Pastor Maurice E. Barnes, called by God to lead this congregation since 1994, has been instrumental in developing, planning, and implementing programs that help the community, while spreading the Good News about the love of God. Our Church motto is: "The Church where everybody is somebody and Christ is Lord."
